Harry Hoag Elementary School, Ft. Plain, NY. June 2
Mindin History Fair
This historic area in the Mohawk Valley hosts this annual get-together for collectors and local history buffs to share their knowledge and collections with the public. The local Stewarts shared free ice cream and the children, dressed in colonial clothing, gave a parade through the event and out to the sleigh and carriage on display in front of the school.

Fort Klock Fortified Farmhouse Opening Day
This small farmhouse with it's Dutch Barn and outbuildings, bake oven, blacksmith shop, and schoolhouse packs a punch when visitors stop in. Opening day visitors enjoyed demonstrations in the Barn including the Surgeon Paul Supley and his excellent display of surgical equipment accompanied by interesting to gory descriptions of medicine and doctoring in the 18th century. Also, reproduction wampum belts displayed and discussed by folks from Ganondagon State Historic Site, and home made gifts, and herbs.

Fort Plain, June 3rd
Town of Minden History Fair 

This event in historic Fort Plain was a town event which included several historic departments of the local government. The Fort Plain museum, historic bottle collections, town historian, town supervisor, etc. were all there with displays touting the town's rich history.


18th Century Toys and Games added a kids section to the fair and we were graced by many charming visitors.

Pipes, step dancing, redheads and freckles! A great fun crowd enjoying and celebrating heritage. This amazing young man and his dad spent quite a while writing in the style of ancient Irish documents! What a joy to spend a beautiful day on the banks of the Hudson River in lovely Peekskill.

Look for my Toys and Games next to the visitor center!

AFTER ACTION REPORT- A beautiful weekend of eagles, toys and games, Mountain Men and traditional basket maker. Add to that a blacksmith making S-hooks with kids, snow-cones and tours of the beautiful house! Couldn't have had more gracious hosts! and tons of isitors.

Fort Plain Boy Scout Camporee

AFTER ACTION REPORT- We had a beautiful day and squeezed every bit of fun we could out of it. There were displays, presentations, all sorts of activities and acres and acres to play in! Add 60 or so boy scouts and you have a fantastic event!  They wouldn't leave to go EAT lunch!! See the gallery slideshow below!

A great Hometown event with lots going on! Town museum open, various and sundry demonstrations and a battle reenactment! Raise the Tree of Liberty with local patriots!  And come play toys and games as well as do some easy-for-kids open fire cooking. 

16th- Father's Day- New Windsor Cantonment, Vails Gate, NY

Thanks to Gina, Bill, Jennifer, and the whole staff at the Saratoga Visitor center, including the lunch provider! The event was great! Mars Heritage Chocolates were there, tinpunching, cannon and musket drills, dancing and dress up, and lots more!
